Guided Kayak Tours Near Marco Island in Rookery Bay

Staying on Marco Island and ready to explore beyond the beach? Rising Tide Explorers leads small-group kayak tours into the protected estuaries of Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, immediately north of Marco Island and at the northern edge of the Ten Thousand Islands.
Tours launch from two convenient locations: the Isles of Capri Paddlecraft Park and the Shell Island Road launch, both located just north of Marco Island along the Collier Boulevard corridor. From these launches, our guides can reach mangrove tunnels, oyster reefs, shallow mudflats, quiet back bays, and wildlife-rich rookeries without turning your adventure into an all-day drive.

Every tour is shaped by the tide, weather, season and wildlife. That means no two trips are exactly alike—and your biologist guide can explain the animals, plants and ecological relationships you encounter along the way. You can’t see Florida from the beach chair!

Marco Island Kayak Tour FAQs

The tours explore Rookery Bay immediately north of Marco Island and depart from nearby launch sites at Isles of Capri Paddlecraft Park or Shell Island Road. The addresses may display Naples because of postal boundaries, but the launches are positioned for convenient access from Marco Island.

The launch areas are just north of Marco Island along the Collier Boulevard corridor. Drive time varies depending on your starting point and seasonal traffic. Use the directions in your confirmation email and allow enough time to park and meet your guide before departure.

All three guided tours can accommodate beginners when conditions are appropriate. All of our guides can give tips and tricks for new paddlers and lend assistance when needed. Many new kayakers enjoy the Mangrove Tunnels & Mudflats tour to get a great snapshot of the estuary. Call us if you would like help choosing for your group and travel dates.

The areas we are going to explore are commonly used by dolphin, manatee, and lots of other wildlife. Every day is different in the estuary, so there is no telling what we might encounter on any given day. Manatee are more common during high tides in the summer months and we usually encounter them about 5–10% of the time during that time of year. Dolphin are more common and we often encounter them about 50% of the time.
